Legal Data Intelligence Architects: A Rare Opportunity to Shape the Future of Legal

Author: LDI Team

September 23, 2024

The Legal Data Intelligence model was officially launched in May at CLOC Global Institute 2024. The project, a voluntary initiative undertaken by a group of legal leaders, has already become a major point of interest for law firms, in-house legal departments, and legal service providers, generating enthusiastic media coverage, and kickstarting a serious discussion on the need to create a new class of roles at the intersection of technology, data, and the law.

As a new framework, set of best practices, and vocabulary enabling legal professionals to successfully tackle data challenges across a wide range of use cases and practice areas, the Legal Data Intelligence project is—by design—an evolving paradigm. Indeed, updates and additions will be made to the model on an ongoing basis in response to the changing needs and landscape of the legal industry.

And now, for the very first time, we are accepting applications for legal professionals to become LDI architects!

Each use case within the Legal Data Intelligence (LDI) model is backed by a group of volunteers—called LDI Architects—who will work with LDI founding members to actively create, debate, refine, and promote the standard framework, workflows, technology, and metrics associated with the use case.

LDI architects will have the opportunity to lead the refinement and creation of LDI model use cases for the benefit of the legal community.

Other benefits include:

  • Exclusive, in-person engagement at LDI events with leaders from across the legal industry.
  • Elevation as a thought leader in a given domain, including features in industry content, recognition on the legaldataintelligence.org website, and access to an LDI Architect designation for LinkedIn.

Required Commitments of an LDI Architect:

  • Estimated time commitment of 4-5 hours per month, includes:
    • Attending virtual team meetings as often as possible or participating asynchronously in the action items, discussions, and agreements that come from each meeting
    • Actively collaborating and producing use case content, including opinions, articles, and white papers, and speaking at engagements
    • Participating in live events with Legal Data Intelligence founding members and industry leaders, where possible
  • Must provide confirmation that your employer approves of your participation and that your status as an LDI Architect can be shared externally in Legal Data Intelligence materials and communications.
  • Commitment remains for 1 calendar year, with an option to recommit provided all qualifications have been met.

Please complete this application by October 16 to express your interest in participating as an LDI Architect or to nominate a qualified candidate from your network. (Nominees will receive a communication to assess their interest and invite them to apply.)
